DJ Slim just dropped his video for Phanda Mo and submitted it to the site for review. The video was directed by himself and Uprooted Media. I have a lot of mixed feelings about this video. It was shot in a graveyard and has women wearing tops and thongs tied to trees. Autonomy of the women participating in the video aside, did nobody look at this video and not bother to ask one question? Nobody thought women being tied to trees was a little odd? Had nobody watched Deliberance or 12 Years A Slave and made the connection?
But I digress. It’s a good song and Tshego kills the hook and all the rappers bring it on the verses. Like you can really enjoy it if there was someway to unsee the forced tree hugging.
