South Africa’s Shabzi Medallion has had an interesting introduction to the South African Hip Hop fan base since finishing up as the runner up in Vuzu’s inaugural season of The Hustle. Unlike his other Hustle fraternity members such as Big Star and Shane Eagle, Shabzi’s aggressive delivery has not seemed to capture the attention of the masses in the way I expected it to.
I remember hearing his Insane EP earlier this year – though his talent is evident I feel he has not found the best way to package it into a palatable product. On his new effort Views Shabzi recruits Blass to provide an incredible instrumental where Shabzi takes the opportunity to speak on the chase for popularity, visibility and “Views”.
I feel this could be his most appealing release yet. Though his unique style won’t be for everyone, he is certainly refining it.
