I Am Sorry Phyno, We Need A New King By Kaycee Oguejiofor @kaybaba16

We all try to end the year on a high, be motivated and Start the new year with pure fire. At least for most artists that always seem to be their desire.

But i don’t think same can be said about Phyno, at the Anambra youth fiesta. Phyno did not live up to the hype, despite the plethora of hit records he has. I mean ala igbo is suppose to be his turf, he is suppose to kill everything moving with the arsenal of hit records he in possession but NO! The man was literally begging for applause despite starting strong with loud ovation and he finished begging for……
Your art is suppose to be like making love…..its an art that requires skill regardless of how big your tool is, you and your partner need to reach a climax and its usually better if you can climax together…… The guys here can relate… You don’t want to have to apologies…….

When ghost mode was blowing up, Deejaygunz Egbe can relate, i have always criticized Phyno, from his performances to so many things he is doing wrong, you don’t have to always depend on the strength of your song to thrill the crowd, you need to understand the difference between WINGING IT AND BEING SPONTANEOUS . If you fluke something and it works for a crowd, there is no guarantee it will work for the next crowd…. You need to adapt your performance to suit the crowd you are going to perform for.

We the audience are growing out of patience with artists who cant thrill us, we are not asking for live performances, we know its not everyone that can handle it, but even as you dey use CD thrill us, Psquare whether na band or CD they will give you a performance that will make you spend ya last money……the way Ifeanyi Uba whispered to Peter to see him after the event.

I have screamed it over and over, that practice makes perfect some of us need to constantly practice to get it others are born ready.

Oga Phyno is an example of people who flukes it to blow, and then are doing their best to remain where they are…..first as am entrepreneur he is who you don’t wanna be, he has signed a good number of artist with all leaving, as an artist he is also who you also don’t wanna be, i am not undermining his talents, musically he is extremely talented, but music business is 90-10, 90% business and 10% music, that’s the sad reality. Music can only take you as far, business will sustain you.

I hope this new year folks like BosaLin Onye UtaLi, Elveektor Ogbu will up their game and forget the sucking up and take the mic back and make these people up their game.

There is no shame, even Jay-z said it, that DMX made him go back to work on his performance cos he toured with X in 99 and no one wanted to see him, everyone turnt up for X despite him being the bigger artist, R-kelly suffered same touring with Ne-yo.

Phyno needs to hire managers who will tell him he sucks But can be better, he needs to connect with his audience more, the silent moments during performances he needs to learn to own them. As arrogant as Zlatan Ibrahimovic is he takes time to appreciate and acknowledge the fans, the people who can make or break him. Who be artist without him fans?.
