South Africa’s Sam Turpin has never be afraid to swim against the current of traditional and popular sounds with his art. On his new songJade Skies the rapper links up with one half of Dirty Paraffin – producer thegooddoktah who was and still is very significant and influential member within the alternative Urban scene in South Africa.
The song is an electronic cacophony of sounds and synths that is equally engaging and complex.
“I’ve always been inspired by the work thegooddokta has done while with Dirty Paraffin and after hearing his solo project last year I really wanted to rap over one of his beats. I wrote the track while in Ghana this year and after some online exchanges he sent me this beat which I felt clicked perfectly. He did a lot of work on the arrangement and “Jade Skies” is the final result.” – Sam Turpin
