Mr Eazi releases a new song titled “Chop Time, No Friend” and officially announced that his long-awaited debut LP will finally be making landfall Oct. 27. To get fans prepared, he premiere a new visual for the album’s lead single, “Chop Time, No Friend,” which is titled after a Ghanaian saying that loosely means, “You can’t trouble me.” (STREAM HERE)
“Chop Time, No Friend” is a playful return to the Banku Music sound Mr Eazi pioneered and popularized with his early singles and mixtapes. “Chop Time, No Friend is a very common Ghanaian saying, something you will see written on the front or side of buses like God is Great,” Mr Eazi says. “It means when you are eating, you don’t think about anybody. You are just focused on your enjoyment.”
For Eazi, it’s a way to express how he doesn’t let haters distract him from enjoying the fruits of his success. The accompanying clip for “Chop Time, No Friend” comes courtesy of Allison Swank Owen and brings viewers to Dakar, Senegal.
While there, Eazii catches vibes with a beautiful woman at a beachside residence, shows off his eclectic fashion sense in a clothing shop, and dines with loved ones in a lavish open-air space. At one point, he stands in front of the breathtaking African Renaissance Monument, located in Deux Mamelles, Dakar.
