Bitter Sweet is defined as arousing pleasure tinged with sadness or pain and that Pop cum R&B rising singer Majeeed paints with lyrics on his debut EP in the title of Bitter Sweet, which tells the tale of two lovers who although love each other dearly, the dispute over financial matters as a result of the state of the male lover (Majeeed) who currently is not as financially buoyant as he would love to be Majeeed opens with How I Care where he describes his feelings beautifully to his lover in a classic R&B style, closing the song with a proper introduction to who he is and what he stands for as an artist. No Room for Love is Majeeed’s way of telling his lover to be plain with her feelings towards him just like he is towards her but she keeps dribbling at him with her actions. Yawa No Dey End is a proper segue to Tough Love which speaks on the responsibility of being a provider in this poor Nigerian economy we find ourselves but Majeeed pleads with his lover not to “Show me some good love / . . . / ‘Cause I lay my life for you“.
Bitter Sweet EP is made with lovers in mind and it is sung majorly over Afrobeat production. A stand-out from the EP is the tracklist mixed with the impeccable songwriting of Majeeed which birthed a cohesive 6-song body of work.
