We’re over 6 months into this year and its been nothing but bops and flops from our faves to not-so-faves. Just when we thought the coronavirus pandemic was going to deter us from getting music, Nigerian artistes have shown that the second half of the year is definitely going to packed with a lot of releases.
Some artistes are set to drop new projects later this month and we can already feel the heat. The likes of Burna Boy, Adekunle Gold, Fireboy, Patoranking, DJ Cuppy, fall into this category and fans are super excited and also in a dilemma of whose album to anticipate.
Burna Boy
The self-acclaimed African Giant would be releasing his 5th studio album “Twice As Tall” on the 14th of July and the Track-list is super packed. The album which is executively produced by American hip hop mogul, Diddy, his mother, Bose Ogulu, and Burna himself features the likes of Chris Martin of Cold Play, Stormzy, Youssou N’Dour, Sauti Sol and Naughty by Nature. The album is also set to be released with a comic book titled “The Secret Flame”
Adekunle Gold
Adekunle Gold’s switch to pop music which was debuted with tracks like “Jore,” “Something Different,” and “AG Baby” was a successful one. To keep fans entertained with his new style, the singer announced that his new project “Afro-Pop Volume 1” would be released on the 21st of August. The 10 track album features the likes of Patoranking, Tekno, and others.
DJ Cuppy
What was supposed to be an EP turned out to be an album after the addition of new songs. The ace disc jockey’s debut album “Original Copy” is slated to be released on the 21st of August and has “Jollof on The Jet’ which features Tanzanian singer, Rayvanny, and Rema as the lead single. The impressive line of artistes in the tracklist includes Efya, Wyclef Jean, Wale, Darkoo, Stonebwoy, Teni, Sir Shina Peters, Nonso Amadi, Julain Marley, Ms Banks, Ycee and Seyi Shay.
Fireboy DML
After dropping two hot singles “New York City Girl” and “Eli,” Fireboy like a thief in the night stunned fans with the revelation that his sophomore album “Apollo” would be released on the 20th of August, 2020. Although the official tracklist and album cover are yet to be unveiled, it is expected that it would be released before the album drops.’
Patoranking
With the success of his last album “Wilmer‘ named after his daughter, Patoranking has announced that his third album “Three” would be released on the 28th of August, 2020. However, the tracklist and album cover are yet to be revealed, but Patoranking made sure to drop an announcement video while making the revelation. The video shows a ballet dancer giving moves similar to Maddie Ziegler from Sia’s “Elastic Heart“. He already has “Abule” as the lead single for the forthcoming album
