A little over two weeks ago, Naira Marley came through with his debut album.
The 14-track project has since garnered a whopping 86 million streams on the AudioMack platform only and more streams on other platforms.
The studio album called “God’s Timing’s The Best” has been a long time coming and one of the most anticipated projects in a while.
Naturally, as Naira Marley’s first album, this is supposed to mean something, but after waiting three years, there’s only so much hype he can get. Especially when he’s not Rema and doesn’t have Don Jazzy’s backing.
Still, for what it’s worth, some would say the album has been a commercial success, even if its critical acclaim is questionable. It’s not quite the masterpiece some would have imagined it will be.
His guest list which includes Mayorkun, Mohbad, Zinoleesky, and Lil Kesh, should probably have been more extensive than this. Apparently, Naira Marley doesn’t want to get out of his comfort zone and try new things.
Well, Naira Marley is one of the biggest artists on the streets for a reason. Out of all the fourteen tracks, at least some would bang. That’s all that matters.
Some of the songs on the album, like “Montego Bay” (which now has an official video) are instant favorites and some of the collaborations are good jams too. There’s no way you listen to the album and not have one track that will stick.
My favorite song on the album is “Drink Alcohol Like It’s Water” on which he featured Diquenza and Chivv. I like the concept and that’s one of the reasons why Naira Marley is still someone worth listening to. He’s got concepts.
Anyway, it’s been two weeks and that’s enough time to have a favorite song. So, which track are you feeling off the album right now?
