Dear Artist: IF I WERE AN ARTIST I WILL STRIVE TO BE LIKE OLAMIDE by @Kaybaba16

After the last world cup, Thiery Henry said, he will tell his children to emulate Thomas Muller and not Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, that Thomas Muller does all the right things in the field, striaght to business, get the goals and get the points which is what matters in football.

Olamide is/has been my Thomas Muller, does all the right things, win all the points and is winning the world cup always!. In the last couple of years No ARTIST IN NIGERIA HAS BEEN MORE CONSISTENT than Olamide, he might not be the biggest, he might have Wizkid or Davido’ fame (which i doubt) but he is leaving a legacy far far bigger than him.

He is not distracted with the rush to feature an American or move to Hollywood, rather baba is steadily building an empire, when all the others are focused on the fast life and shii, baba is busy improving his business acumen,

After i watched his performance at the Soundcity MVP award and the number of hits records he has in his catalogue, i couldn’t help it But scream olamide should be getting 100 million annually from Royalties… No Nigerian artist in the last 10 years can boast of having more hit records than Olamide, not even Tuface

Now look at what he is doing with his YBNL imprint, a label he started when he was barely a superstar, he has birthed Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold amongst others, he has been the support system to a lot of artists, Ycee, Phyno, Harrysong to name a few.

I don’t even want to mention OLIC… In the last 3 years, no annual event at Eko Hotel has outsold OLIC, he took it to Houston sold out, took it to UK sold out!

So many times we say quality over quantity, But Olamide has given us quality and quantity at the same time, and i have never heard anyone say he repeated a verse, even if na nonsense him dey talk.

In the words of Obi Asika “think local before you go global” and thats what all the great artists world over did or are doing, Fela, Bob Marley, Maria Makeba, Salif Keita list is endless.

My advice to the youngins out there, don’t try to be like Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, people like that appear once in 100 years, be like Thomas Muller who is a regular joe, writing his name in gold.
